Types of questions

Using the right types of questions in your survey is key to producing effective qualitative and quantitative data.

Here is a quick overview of the six different survey question types available:

1. Open-ended questions - allow for qualitative data and to produce Word Cloud Reports. Examples are:
   1. Free text
   2. Number
   3. Email

2. Closed-ended questions - these generate quantitative data that can be weighted and scored. Examples are:
   1. Multiple choice for Likert or Rating scale questions
   2. Multiple choice, where more than one option can be selected

3. Information Only - option to include a heading or block of text to provide guidance on next steps
